The Complete Yeezy Twitter Saga
It's no secret to anyone who knows Kanye that he's a bit insane. Definitely in a genius and creative way, but most of the time nothing he says or does makes much sense. That's why we love him though, right?
I remember heading to the cinema in early 2016 to watch the livestream of Yeezy Season 3 launch and the debut of 'Life of Pablo' at Madison Square Garden, only to have him announce he was going to make a video game about his late mother ascending to heaven. She rides a pegasus at one point. I'm not kidding - you can't make this shit up.
With his history, it comes as no surprise that Yeezy has once again thrown caution to the wind and laid it all out, this time in the form of a tirade of Tweets. So we've compiled a timeline of what happened to get you up to speed.
Kanye has been inactive on Twitter for a while now, and started back up mid April by tweeting his usual content - random and philosophical nonsense:
Then, a few days later, he confirmed his intentions of running for President in the next few years.
I mean at this point, we should have figured something was coming. And it did:
... you can see why he's in the spotlight again. Also, does anyone know what 'dragon energy' means?
In the space of a few hours, Ye was unfollowed by Travis Scott, 2Chainz, Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend and so on. Kylie, Khloe and Kourtney also all unfollowed. Jaden Smith, a pretty strong presence on Twitter, had this to say:
Kanye continued his rant as Twitter erupted around him.
To be fair, People Magazine probably would love a pair of Yeezys.
Kim Kardashian then made her stance known:
Chance The Rapper seemed to be the only other person to support Ye's Twitter Rampage.
Since this has all happened, John Legend took his argument with Ye over the Tweets off Twitter.
For now, this is the most recent tweet on the matter. Though I do have to say that "You bringing this up is a tactic based on fear used to manipulate my free thought" is an excellent line and I think the next time I'm being asked to do something I don't want to do, I'm gonna use it. For now, we're back to nonsensical Yeezy, but I doubt this is where the saga ends.
