Cleveland Cavaliers Win It All
The 2016 NBA Season has come to an exciting end with the Cleveland Cavaliers defeating the Golden State Warriors to take out the NBA Championship. The Cavs came back from being 3-1 down to win the series and the championship and deny the reigning champions their second consecutive victory. LeBron James was named the Finals MVP for the third time in his career following a Game 7 triple-double of 27 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.
Undoubtedly one of the most exciting NBA seasons in recent history as records were being shattered all over the place. Stephen Curry broke the record for most 3 pointers in the regular season (402), the Warriors took out the best regular season win-loss record (73-9) overshadowing the previous record set by the 1995–96 Chicago Bulls, and we saw the Warriors come back from a 3-1 deficit in the conference finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder to progress to the championship series. Those being just a few of the records broken within the season and lets not forget the retirement of arguably one of basketball’s greatest! Kobe Bryant closed out his final NBA games with the Los Angeles Lakers and finished his final game with a whopping 60 points to boot.
No matter which team you support, there is no denying that this season was one for the ages and the coming 2016-17 NBA season is full of hope and excitement amongst fans as a number of key players have become free agents. Next year could be your team’s year!
