The Most Expensive Sneakers Of All Time
This morning, Dillon Francis uploaded the above photo. Now, I've been working in streetwear long enough to be able to pick out the styles he has for some reason decided to tape to his body and was impressed more than anything of the sheer amount of money he was wearing as a sick fit. But it got me thinking. What are the most expensive sneakers of all time?
I had a couple of styles in mind, but after falling down a rabbit hole of intensive research, I felt this was information that needed to be shared with all the sneakerheads out there. Folks - here are five of the most expensive sneakers of all time.
5. Pharrell Williams x adidas Hu NMD Friends and Family: $10,000
Fifth on our list is the Pharrell Williams icon - the Hu NMD that combines the BOOST's comfort with forward-thinking design. The ‘Friends and Family’ releases of this specific silhouette are going for over 10K, with the ‘Maroon’ style selling for approx. $12K and the 'Shock Pink' for almost $15K.
4. Macklemore x Air Jordan 6: $25,000
But shit, it was $25,000.
The Eminem Jordan 4 would have usually taken this place, but the Macklemore Air Jordan 6 is now commanding a cruisey $25K. In this delicious, Shrek-esque colourway, what's not worth it about copping these kicks?
3. DJ Khaled x Air Jordan 3 'Grateful': $25,000
I'm so fucking grateful for my reds. One of the more recent expensive sneaker drops is the DJ Khaled ‘Grateful’ Jordan 3s. Only months after they dropped, the jays were selling for anywhere between $16 - $25,000. Honestly, I'm just surprised that he didn't manage to brand them Fashion Nova.
2. Nike Mag 2016 (Auto-Lacing): Average $26,000
Is that one of the most expensive sneakers in the world in which a CK employee is drinking a shoey from? Yes. Don't worry, no Mags were harmed in the making of this photo. We made damn sure of it, considering the sneak goes for the same price as selling a kidney on the black market, probably. The sneaker is so popular because it was featured in 'Back to the Future II' and it has lights and an auto-lacing feature for the hell of it. The release of the battery-powered, motor-driven sneakers was limited to fewer than 100 pairs, meaning you can cop if you've got a spare $26K burning holes in your pocket.
1. Air Jordan 11 ‘Jeter’: $40,000
Number one on this list is the New York Yankee's Derek Jeter's Jordan 11. Limited to only FIVE PAIRS to commemorate his retirement in 2017, these kicks are on another level when you think about expensive. According to my research, three of the five pairs are vaulted up in US consignment stores, and prices are ranging from $30,000 to $50,000. Maybe I don't need to save up a house deposit, renting forever is looking good rn.
