Spotlight On: Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick Lamar, one of the rap game's heavyweights, is heading down under to headline Splendour in the Grass and play a series of sideshows. To celebrate him being in town, we're going to take a look at Kung Fu Kenny's career and music.
Accustomed to making absolute bangers, Kendrick released his first mixtape at age 16 in 2004. Born and raised in Compton, California, he has come a long way since his humble music beginnings. The proud owner of twelve Grammy Awards, Kendrick's album 'DAMN.' was also the first non-classical, non-jazz album to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Music.
Kendrick has been named by Time as one of the 100 most influential people in the world on their 2016 list, and MTV has called him the number one 'Hottest MC in the Game'.
Also part of supergroup 'Black Hippy', Kendrick takes his talents to South Los Angeles with his TDE labelmates Ab-Soul, Jay Rock and Schoolboy Q. Not only to be known for his rapping, Kendrick also produced the 'Black Panther' soundtrack.
Kendrick is also a major player in the fashion world.
